Up-cycled Plexiglas Lighting Collection Given an opportunity to up-cycle Plexiglas signage from a furniture store, which was too thick to use for jewelry applications, I imaged the Plexi Petal designs in larger form. While my wheels were turning I came across a photo I had taken while on holiday in Belgium a few years ago. It was of a light fixture from the 1950's and I was inspired to create a lighting collection! After educating myself on how to build a fixture, electrical wiring and light bulb types, the first prototypes are complete. It looks good in your home and it's good for the environment too! Preparing the Plexiglas; removing the signage backing, cutting to a size that would fit in the car and sanding. c After having my hand drawn design of the Plexi Petal CNC at the Big Blue Saw, I heat form each piece in the jewelry studio.
